It took me longer to get into this than the other Mallard albums but Gills is now my favourite album. I love the focus on everyday drudgery in the lyrics interspersed with irresistible cadences like "Agatha's contraption is dead, she chucked it in the ocean for a laugh", and the entire second verse of Chode. I love that you can't seem to let the lows get in the way of ecstatic freak-outs such as at the end of Carnivores or the exuberant bounce in Jobs. I hope we haven't heard that last from you. favourite track = another bath with you.
years ago when we still lived in rented accommodation, my wife and i had to share a bath. it was fun in those days, not so much these days, not least working out how two people are even supposed to fit in there now!
other favourite track = Adam woodyatt. dooff dooff!
this album is another delightful slice of real life. ordinary and hilarious at the same time, like victoria wood xx Gareth Williams
